If you are offering a youth safe tractor and machinery operation training program for 14 and 15 year olds for employment in production agriculture under the USDOL Hazardous Occupations Order for Agriculture, you may be eligible for a USDA CSREES Mini-grant to support your certification program.
Mini-grants of up to $300.00 to purchase supplies are available to support your training program under USDA CSREES Grant # 2005-41521-03333.
1) classroom supplies such as: text materials, computer programs and workbooks
2) physical supplies such as: measuring tapes, traffic cones, course boundary stakes, and flagging tape for skill and driving practice and test courses.
If you are currently teaching a youth safe tractor and machinery operation program or planning to start a program, you are eligible for training support if you are employed as an extension or agriculture educator. This funding is limited to extension and high school agriculture educators who are permitted under the USDOL Hazardous Occupation Order for Agriculture to certify 14 and 15 year olds to operate tractor and machinery for hire in production agriculture. Applications will be processed as received. Funds will be distributed on a first-come first- served basis until all funds are expended. /p>
Application Procedure
1) Review the YSTMIMG "Idea and Source List"
2) Complete and return the YSTMOMG Application.
3) Receive verification of eligibility.
4) Purchase supplies and materials desired.
5) Submit original receipts for reimbursement within 30 days of purchase along with a signed copy of YSTMOMG verification memo.

6) Reimbursement to a maximum of $300.00 will be returned within 45 days of receipt.
